New Orleans has several nicknames, including these: When the United States acquired possession from France in 1803, the French name was adopted and anglicized to become the modern name, which is still in use today. The Spanish renamed the city to Nueva Orleans ( pronounced ), which was used until 1800. Thus, by extension, since New Orleans is also named after Aurelian, its name in Latin would translate to Novum Aurelianum.įollowing France's defeat in the Seven Years' War and the Treaty of Paris, which was signed in 1763, France transferred possession of Louisiana to Spain. The city of Orleans itself is named after the Roman emperor Aurelian, originally being known as Aurelianum. The name of New Orleans derives from the original French name ( La Nouvelle-Orléans), which was given to the city in honor of Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, who served as Louis XV's regent from 1715 to 1723. Įtymology and nicknames The New Orleans cityscape in early February 2007 Greater New Orleans is the most populous metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in Louisiana and, since the 2020 census, has been the 46th most populous MSA in the United States. The city and Orleans Parish ( French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous. Concerns have been expressed about gentrification, new residents buying property in formerly closely knit communities, and displacement of longtime residents. Since Katrina, major redevelopment efforts have led to a rebound in the city's population. New Orleans was severely affected by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, which flooded more than 80% of the city, killed more than 1,800 people, and displaced thousands of residents, causing a population decline of over 50%. State and federal authorities have installed a complex system of levees and drainage pumps in an effort to protect the city. The city has historically been very vulnerable to flooding, due to its high rainfall, low lying elevation, poor natural drainage, and proximity to multiple bodies of water. New Orleans in 1840 was the third most populous city in the United States, and it was the largest city in the American South from the Antebellum era until after World War II. įounded in 1718 by French colonists, New Orleans was once the territorial capital of French Louisiana before becoming part of the United States in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. Additionally, New Orleans has increasingly been known as "Hollywood South" due to its prominent role in the film industry and in pop culture. The city has been described as the "most unique" in the United States, owing in large part to its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage. The historic heart of the city is the French Quarter, known for its French and Spanish Creole architecture and vibrant nightlife along Bourbon Street. New Orleans is world-renowned for its distinctive music, Creole cuisine, unique dialects, and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras. After initial treatment, we support patients through physical therapy and other rehabilitation services. In extreme cases, our surgeon may need to fully reconstruct the knuckle or install permanent metal plates. In treating a sunken or broken knuckle, patients may encounter many different options. Without the proper treatment, you risk doing permanent damage to your bones and joints, which may require more invasive treatment in the future. Stiffness is one of the most common side effects associated with hand fractures and can often complicate everyday tasks including eating, writing, and driving. Leaving knuckle fractures untreated can lead to a host of problems down the road. The knuckles on and closest to the pinky finger are the most likely to be fractured in accidents. Any significant blunt force trauma may be enough to fracture such a complex and delicate joint, such as car accidents, sports trauma, and other injuries that may occur throughout your daily life. It is always a good idea to have any persistent or severe discomfort examined by one of the hand specialists on our staff.ĭespite the nickname, sunken knuckle metacarpal fractures can occur as a result of many things, not just outright punching or boxing. The “sunken” appearance will often be accompanied by swelling and bruising, but the absence of any one or all of these other symptoms does not necessarily mean that the injury is less severe. One of the most common and often sure signs of a broken knuckle is the appearance of a sunken knuckle, which is exactly what it sounds like: with a closed fist, the broken knuckle has either completely disappeared or has literally sunken below the other knuckles of the hand. An injury that was once known as a “boxer’s fracture” has steadily become a more prevalent injury – and not just among brawlers! Knuckle fractures are becoming more and more common, and it is important to be aware of treatment options should you ever experience one. 9/1/2023 0 Comments Persona 3 portable iso undubI don't mean to be an *** but if what you say is true: Ordi wrote:(okay, some people claimed that some of their ISOs don't work anymore since TN removed the Sony NP9660 driver from TN-V, but in the end it was always a problem with the ISO and not with the ISO driver) What on earth is wrong with this ISO then? I'll try resending it to the Vita's 'memory stick' but I'm sure I've done this before.ĮDIT2: Unraring the ISO again seemed to do the trick surprisingly. I'll edit when I've had a change to play it, which should be in about 4 minutes.ĮDIT: Turns out the Peace Walker Semi-Undub does function as much as it ever does. I'm copying a Peace Walker not-fully Undub now. at least in mine us vita and us store every psp game i tried worked perfectlyĮdit: you could also try another undub ISO to see if it solves the problem, if it is the tn-10 iso loader problem. If nothing else helps, you could try using a US store with patapon. I have patapon 2 on US store and it works fine, as well as with other games like toradora translated to english and persona 2 undub. Joex wrote:I'm playing (a new game+) of persona 3 portable on my vita. Unfortunately, I can't use any other ones, because in the recent changelog apparently the other two (March33 and Sony NP9660) have both been removed - I read the Changelog. I'd suspect that the problem may lie in the ISO Drivers, and I would try that route. There's clear signs of the game engine having been loaded up such as Save Data jargon, Level, times of day for the Time-of-Day system such as Lunch Time, Night, Morning. EDIT: I've looked into things further as to try and hasten the pace. To avoid unnecessary discussion, I've legally attained Persona 3 Portable on UMD. It'd be nice if this were a fault on my end, but I somewhat doubt it. Thank you in advance for any help you can give. I didn't continue to follow the scene until this recent "Scene Explosion," and unfortunately the error is still present. The problem of this game not functioning on TN CEF is one present on the first edition of TN CEF with UNO, as well. The ISO is not at fault I've tried this Undub on my PSP running CFW and the game runs perfectly. The user does not make it to the Opening FMV of Persona 3 Portable nor the Title Screen, rendering the game unplayable. The user can use the 'Home Button' combo to open the "Do you want to quite the game?" dialogue, which will bring you to the XMB. The user presses X/O to boot into the game like any other ISO. The game shows up in the GAME->MEMORY STICK menu on the XMB like any other ISO. I have one specific example which is the Persona 3 Portable Undub which I'd be happy to share on my Dropbox with a Developer or Bugtester (and only them) if they would like to see if it's an isolated incident related to my set-up. I do have one lingering problem from the past, which is actually my only other post on this website, I'd think. I can play all ordinary ISOs too so that's not a worry. ISOs modified during the late 2010 "Prometheus" era are now fully functional. Since the first of the eCFW, there's been a lot of headway in the ISO loading business. My exploit game is MyStylist, meaning the PSN region is Japan, however I own a European Vita. I'm running a PSVita on Firmware 3.18, with TN-V10. I'll list all the information I can, I'm not sure what will be of use to try to correct this bug: Make sure to always unarchive and resend your files if they don't work the first time, kids! Original post is below: **UPDATE** Turns out that the problem was with the ISO somewhere along the lines. |
